'25 SPEAKER SERIES: BUSINESS OF FASHION

We are excited to announce our upcoming virtual event with two Business of Fashion writers, Brian Baskin and Sheena Butler-Young, on March 19th at 5pm. This Q&A session will provide insight into prospective careers in journalism and fashion industry trends.
Brian Baskin is the executive editor of The Business of Fashion, overseeing the publication’s award-winning coverage of retail, technology, marketing and other topics relevant to the global fashion and beauty industries. Brian is a veteran financial journalist, joining BoF from The Wall Street Journal, where as a reporter and editor he covered the global energy market, logistics and more. He started his career writing about health care for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, and is a graduate of Brown University, where he was a member of the Brown Daily Herald’s 113th editorial board.
Sheena Butler-Young is a Senior Correspondent at The Business of Fashion (BoF). She is based in New York and leads the magazine’s coverage of workplace, talent and culture. She is the former deputy editor of Footwear News magazine and the recipient of Penske Media Corporation’s Journalistic & Creative Excellence Award for her coverage of diversity issues in fashion. In 2024, she received the prestigious Azbee Regional Gold Award and National Silver Award for impact and investigative journalism. She has interviewed some of fashion’s most influential executives as well as designers and entertainers.

FASHION THE MUSEUM: SHANDIIN BROWN
NOVEMBER 21, 2024
Sháńdíín Brown is a curator, creative, and citizen of the Navajo Nation from Arizona. She studies multitemporal Native American art and fashion at Yale University. Previously, she was the Assistant Curator of Native American Art at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) Museum.
In this program, she will focus on her recent exhibition, Diné Textiles Nizhónígo Hadadít’eh, that was on view this past year at the RISD Museum. Sháńdíín will discuss specifically Diné, but also overall Native American fashion evolution. In addition, she will share about curating fashion in museum spaces. Participants will also be led through discussion about their interests in fashion, curating, and writing.
